I believe MFT's are Marriage and Family Therapists.

Oh....I see. Don't a lot of states allow for a religeous exemption...like you can be a marriage counselor if it is "Christian" counseling?

Umm... uh... not to... um... not to put too fine a point on it...

...but if the 10-minute time-out has not yet expired on the second of a pair of identical posts; and if, therefore, you can still get in to said second (the duplicate) post; then instead of deleting the duplicated words and writing "Double post... sorry," why not just delete the duplicate post?

[pause while it sinks in] ;)

But seriously... it's understandable. Don't feel bad. A lot of people don't even notice the "delete post" capability at the very top of the edit screen (not the "Reply" screen, but the "Edit" screen). They just get to the edit screen and quickly scroll down to the text box so they can make their edit and click on the "Save Changes" button before the post turns to stone (I love that). In a hurry, with the pressure of the 10-minute timeout breathing down our necks, it's easy to not notice things or to forget that certain features are there. The timeout... she's a cruel mistress.

    :)

Yes, but the specifics vary from state to state. In some states, the setting must be a church or church-run/owned facility whose primary function is religious in nature, and is not just for counseling; and the "counseling" must have some kind of religious basis or tie-in. But, again, it varies from state to state.

Some states allow almost anyone to hang out a shingle and call themselves a counselor or even a psychologist. Others restrict the use of those words, but allow people to effectively end-run the whole purpose of such restrictions by calling themselves "psychotherapists"... which most consumers would think is probably about the same as a psychologist. States that know what the heck they're doing don't allow such games and heavily restrict what psychologists versus social workers versus marriage and family therapists versus Christian counselors can do. Most states do permit "Christian Counseling" as long as it doesn't cross certain lines.

For an example of what can happen when lines are crossed; or when Christian counselors aren't adequately trained; or when Christian counselors are just stupid and think a little prayer, and God, will fix something like schizophrenia, see this story.

    Marriage and Family Therapists.

Each non-RA school is individually evaluated.
