I'm going to be pursuing a BS in Liberal Studies from Excelsior in the coming year. I've gotten my transcripts reviewed an so far I know that: Depth Requirement 1 is met Depth Requierment 2 is met I need the 1 hour Information Literacy course I need a 3 hour class from the Humanities Core (art, music, philosophy) My remaining hours simply need to be lower level Applied Professional or Arts & Sciences hours. So, does anyone know if I can use FEMA online training courses to satisfy those lower level Applied Professional hours? I work for myself as a political researcher, I'm only completing my degree for my own personal satisfaction, so I'm not worried about getting into a top-tier graduate school. I am interested in completing my degree in the most cost-efficient method possible. Any information or advice is appreciated!
They can be used, but they have to be 'washed', or put on a transcript through another school, before EC will accept them. I believe the lowest-priced school that will do that costs around $75/credit right now.
Probably best to take the Excelsior course for the Info Lit (some members have used a low cost college course - I forget which). As for the rest have you checked out the DSST and CLEP exams. Clovis CC offers lower division courses at very reasonable tuition cost. Also at EC you can obtain credit via the portfolio route - maybe you can apply your political learning here.
Any reason not to go the FEMA route? The subject matter is of interest to me so I would be taking the classes anyway.
