Good Morning, My current thought is to backtrack and get a second degree from TESC in Psych for career reasons. I already have accumulated the FEMA free electives so I need Psych courses and Statistics. It looks like I can take the Statistic through Straighter line. I need all suggestions for high speeding it through PSYCH courses. I will need 21 credits in this area. Many thanks. I am a fairly good test taker so Dantes is in the loop. I would like to wrap this up in 6 months. Suggestions greatly appreciated. Hille
Hille, I found that these two TECEP exams were relatively easy for me to complete. Psychology of Personality (PSY-352-TE) Introduction to Social Psychology (PSY-370-TE) I took them them both within the space of a couple of months, using the recommended study materials and a few outside sources. I think with some reasonable study time, I spent about 10 hour per week for 4 weeks on each exam, you could knock out these two within the next two months. *Note* I studied for these exams while taking two other courses through TESC at the time in order to earn my second BA. Good luck! Cory
Hille, Excelsior offers a number of ECE Psych exams (some of which are upper level, although I understand that TESC does not require any upper level courses for most BA degree programs). You should be able to quickly wrap up a 2nd BA in Psych, by taking CLEP, DANTES, ECE and TECEP exams. May I ask why you need the FEMA electives for a 2nd BA? I thought you would just need to take 30 credits in your particular major (psych in your case)? Isn't this how it works??
>> Hille, Couple questions- What psychology courses /exams did you use to complete your first BA in the social science or general education elective areas? Second, are you willing to take 1 semester of classes if that means finishing the degree inside that one semester?
2nd BA Hi, I am currently digging out a transcript to see what Psych courses I took long ago. I may need the FEMA because I received credits for my license in Radiologic Technology. I am not sure how that is going to factor in the second BA. I have bounced this idea off several people at work and they think I would be more viable and valuable to employers. Hille
Hille, Charter Oak will give you up to 18 credits for a 40% on the Psychology GRE: Charter Oak Standardized Exam Credits I don't know if this will help with TESC but thought I would throw it out.
And Excelsior will grant up to 30 credits for the Psych (and other) GRE. You wiill need an 80% to receive the full 30 credits required for the major. Keep in mind that you may have some credit duplication if combining a Psych GRE with your old psych courses.
Does the Psych GRE duplicate Statistics credits? I keep seeing a vague reference to that but I don't remember any statistics the first time I took the GRE. Any one know what additional courses Excelsior might require if one already has a BS degree from them with no Psych credits used for that degree? I had heard something about a research methods class. I'm taking the GRE in April. I half-studied when I took it 5 years ago and got in the 60th percentile. I'm shooting for above 80% this time.
>> Only thing, is if you go with the GRE at EC, you lose the FEMA- so either way, you're looking at needing 30+.
Straighterline courses Good Morning, I had a great customer service call from the above yesterday. The Statistics will be ready to go in Feb or March. If you have interests in other courses e-mail them. Hille
Received my enrollment e-mail Hi, Is anyone else enrolled in the Psych program? I just ordered the Pass Your Class study guides and am awaiting class descriptions of old Psych and Social Science courses I took long ago. Also wondering if my clinical hours which gave me several credits would meet any human services criteria. Thoughts appreciated. Hille
