Spicer said, "The way we all can avoid scrutiny is to let the press corps determine where it should go. In all seriousness... he made a pledge to the American people, he wants to donate it to charity and he'd love your help to determine where it should go." Trump said, "I'll be working for our country free, I don't want any salary." U.S. law requires that the president receive a salary. The U.S. Constitution states, in Article 2, Section 1 that "The President shall, at stated times, receive for his services, a compensation, which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that period any other emolument from the United States, or any of them." An organization that got caught red-handed trafficking in fetal body parts? I don't think that's going to happen. My favorite charity is the Salvation Army; the only one I know of where the executives aren't making enormous salaries, and have never turned away anyone in need when I've contacted them.
