I have been thinking about renting books for my MBA program from www.chegg.com instead of purchasing them from Amazon's marketplace. What do people think about renting? Since I rarely looked at any of my books since graduating with my BS in Kinesiology, I have been leaning toward renting, but have to know if most people who graduate from an MBA or other Master's program still go back and reference their textbooks. If so, I will purchase the books used if possible.
I guess renting is ok if it is cheap enough. Last time I looked into that, I was able to buy an international edition book (abebooks.com)for almost the same price. Abner
Your books become valuable references for the future. You may be shortchanging yourself without realizing it. j.
If you intend to sell your textbook after the class, then renting is a good option. However, for those have the capstone course...good to use it for reference.
Actually just compared two of the textbooks I am looking at. It is just about $15.00 to $20.00 for purchasing. So, my opinion is depend.
If the textbook is a current edition/expensive, then I sell it back for about what I paid for it used (break even). (I buy used at Amazon.com, Half.com, and Abebooks.com and sell used at Amazon.com.) If I think I will need the textbook as a future reference, then I buy an older edition of the same textbook for about $5.
Thanks all for the input. I'll go ahead and purchase the book used on Amazon. My background is in Movement Science so the purchasing the finance/accounting book would be a good reference since I have never taken a finance and accounting course before. I shouldn't short change myself at this stage of my career/life. Thanks again.
