I just checked out my online degree evaluation and I passed the Clep Math! I'm FINALLY finished with my AA. The plan is to transfer this AA to one of the 4year schools here in Cali. Unfortunately, I don't know what score I received since it's being mailed to me, TESC got it first and they won't tell me my score. I'm dying to know especially since I only used that Cracking the Clep book. They have a new book out as well, I think it might be based on this current exam because I noticed there weren't alot of probability questions like it says in their old book. Which is why I'm still shocked that I passed.. sweet
Congradulations! I took that 2 weeks ago and missed by 2 points (48). It is not an easy test, esp. if one has been out of high school for a while. Of the 7 standardized tests I took so for this was the most challenging and the only one I didn't pass. I got my score on the spot from the computer... I would guess if TESC ot your score first then look for something in your mailbox in about a day or 2.
Thanks! Ugh, I know how it is to miss by 1 point. That's the worst. Keep trying though. I failed 2 Dantes Algebra exams before deciding to take this one! I went with the paper and pencil test for this exam instead of computer testing- I'm all the way in California so it's going to take a while for it to arrive I guess. I just read your post about your problems with TESC. Early last year I was told they could take the D Algebra grade I received at the local JC. Then a few months ago I was told my GPA was too low because all my other credits don't have grades attached to them(I have 51 clep/dantes "credits") Needless to say I was pissed because one advisor told me one thing and another told me something completely different.. I hope everything works out for you
Congrats! I passed the CLEP Math using the same book and when I saw my 54 on the screen, it was like I could hear the angels singing!!. In fact, I avoided finishing college because of the Math requirement. For some reason I just don't get Math. Again, Congrats!
Hi, Which books did you guys use? and is this site really useful for that particular CLEP: www.purplemath.com I really want to take that CLEP myself, but am horrible at anything related to algebra at all. I could learn it just fine in class, but that was after 15 weeks.... I was thinking about the princeton review cracking the CLEP. Any advice would be useful, I only need 6 credits of math and the capstone course (which is nothing basically) to graduate.
Oh and if you are wondering how I am missing math credit and hold two Associate's, lets just say I "passed" liberal arts math. (that's how bad I am)
Thanks guys! We used Cracking the Clep. The great thing about the Clep general math is that there is very little Algebra. This test was my first choice but the fact that it was timed really freaked me out. There are only 60 questions on this one. I think it used to be 70. The practice questions on Cracking the Clep are VERY close to the ones on the test!
First Congrats on passing your Clep. I also am looking at trying to Clep out of math. I am very nervous and need to also find a study guide. I do a lot of trignometry and some geometry with my job but haven't touched algebra is 19 years. Will only a select few colleges accept the general math Clep? I checked a Clep study guide from UofP and the general math was not listed. Also is this Clep worth 6 or 3 credits. Thanks in advance,
UOP accepts the College Mathematics exam as 6 credit hours. Let me know if you have any other questions about CLEPS you are looking into, I can send you the list.
I noticed on my list from UofP that they accept the college mathematics exam, which is worth 6 credits. I am a little confused as to the general mathematics exam being the same as the college mathematics?.
