    I agree with Roy.

While doing research to pick a school to go back for my degree, I reviewed PWU. As soon as I realized they were not accredited I threw away their literature.

They may or may not be a degree mill, but while they have no form of accreditation they are a very poor choice in my opinion.

    Thanks,

    Mike

If PWU wants to survive, they will need DETC or RA. If they don't, they'll eventually either be shut down by the state of Hawaii or face prosecution by the state of California.
If they honestly want to be seen as a DL university, the directors of this school will need to take positive action soon.

Columbia Pacific bided its time without attempting any form of accreditation. It had about as much respect as an unaccredited school could and found itself blindsided by forced closure.

I think they must have been too busy counting their money to look to the future.

    The Civil War

    Dear Uncle Janko,

Sorry I could not respond to your comment. I had to leave for a bit but did not mean to bug-out on anyone.

Where I live the civil war can be talked daily. In this area there are profesional historians, teachers, amature historians, buffs, and nut who will be most happy to converse with any one about the Civil War. It is not only remembered, it is alive and well.
What I mean is that this area is a live walking, talking history book for those people interested. I have seen more pictures, uniforms, guns, knives, swords, stuff, in private homes than you might see in a museum. These people love to tell about it and their family conection. It's here, just get a conversation going. The last fellow I talked to had a historical home and was proud to tell me that Gen Hood, Gen Bates, many others sat in this room and planned their battles pointing to the chairs they set in and the table they wrote on. It is truley amasing. I now realize my tongue-in-cheek comment may have been taken quite differently out side this area.

Now I shall summerize all this and move on to a different thread

    Thanks,

    HERB

    Summary

    Summary,

I want to thank everyone who came to this thread and talked to me. You all were much nicer than I was expecting. My deflector shields were up when I started because of some of the comments made in an earlier thread; I was anticipating a fight, but everyone was cordial. This was my first time here and I have learned a lot. It is more difficult to 'talk' on a computor than write. When writing one can set back and look at the page a day later and change it. I also know most of the people who check this sight are looking for RA schools, and that they should. However, there are a few people looking for alternatives and PW is one of those alternatives. It is a good unaccdedited school. Maybe my choice of words may not have been the best but credible, legitimate, honest, real, established, these all fit. Roysavia says PW will need to go DETC. I too know PW will need to go DETC. I'm sure they know it as well. The writing is on the wall. This will be the next big step for PW when they do.

I am looking forward to talking to everyone in another thread, hopefully soon. Thanks,
    Good-bye.

    Herb

If someone was looking for an unaccredited school and especially if they were looking for a school that might be accredited someday then I think there are better choices than PWU. I think CCU is much more likely to get accreditation, for example.

No, Herb, I meant remembered it from personal experience, not just studying it enthusiastically or keeping historical memory alive.

    CCU

I know I said good-bye to everyone but I see two serious questions brought up and felt I should try and answer them if at all possible.

    Bill,

You have a very valid point here. From what I understand CCU has now applied with an application for the DETC accreditation from information I see from reading other post. But where will one get a doctorate? Application for addmission to the doctorate program at CCU was closed on June 30. This is why PW may be a possiblity. I am not saying the only possiblilty but another choice for one to consider. Again you have a good point.

    Thanks,

    Herb.

    Deception

    Richard Douglas,
I gave a list of words I felt describing the school and you gave me yours. Deception is what a bonifide mill would do.

    1) A degree holding you back? Are your freinds getting
promoted? Get your degree from ME and YOU move up the
corporate ladder. Pay raises! Get one today!
    2) We are accredited by Whoopy Assassinations of Universities
    and Colleges.
    3) Three courses needed. ( I recived your True and False
    questions today.)
    4) Other similar stuff.
    and so on.

This is deception, If you want to use the words marginal or unacredited then OK, thats your right but I thought I explained earlier by quoting from the catalog why there is no deception
from PW. Please go back a few post and double check it.
    Thanks a bunch.

PWU getting DETC??? That was only conversation and speculation of what they should do. I do not have such information. Again,
    Thank you so much.

Herb is now leaving the thread.

    Good-bye to all.

    Re: Deception

PWU conducts a huge deception by its dual nature. At one time, it operated under the unregulated California Authorized category. None of its programs were Approved. When the Authorized category was eliminated, schools were required to be institutionally approved. PWU couldn't meet that standard. So it--like FTU--"split" into two entities. One meets the California standard (such that it is) for Approval, while the rest are run through the Hawaiian license, despite the fact they are both operated from the same location in California. This is deceptive. An above-board decision would have been to meet the California Approval standards for all programs. Other schools did it.
