With state universities facing increased tuition and passing it along to students, will the day come when they will employ adjunct instructors who reside in other countries to teach via DL or some other remote means as a cost cutting measure? So students congregate in an auditorium and watch/listen to an instructor in Colombia, Bulgaria or Kenya lead the class. Since nations are becoming tied together economically this could be classified as free trade. Any thoughts/ comments ?
Whatever else it may be, higher education is a large U.S. industry. And, IMO, an overpriced commodity in the U.S. DL allows for competition from who can meet standards and provide at a better cost.
Lot's of United States medical transcriptions are done off shore especially by countries east of the international dateline. I won't be surprised at your thoughts happening soon if not already. Godwin
