See, now. I guess we're even :jester: Thanks for clarifying. I saw what I interpreted as a heated debate on subjects I was only tangentially talking about and wondered what in the world happened. Like Steve Urkel accidentally bumping into a standing lamp and somehow destroying the entire house via the domino effect. Then again, I just read back the last few posts and realized that I was too quick to assume a caustic tone. That's my bad.
Darrell Hammond has already been replaced. Another SNL alum, Norm MacDonald, is taking over as the newest Col Sanders. KFC Swaps Colonel Again: Comedian Norm Macdonald Takes Darrell Hammond's Spot - Eater
The new version is Norm McDonald. Not as creepy but also not likable. He's not making me want to eat his chicken, that's for sure.
Considering that this wasn't a 'celebrity' endorsement--the celebrity is the character, not the actor--why didn't they just hire the best Col Sanders impersonation available? Neither Hammond nor McDonald are supposed to add heft to the role. Weird. (Even more weird is the whole 'colonel' thing. Kentucky Colonels. Wonder if you can earn one by DL?)
I guess we're not the only ones . . . https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/kfc-customers-hate-colonel-again-152400074.html
I love KFC, and I once saw an episode of Pawn Stars where a guy was selling one of Colonel Sanders's white suits, but couldn't make a deal. That's about all I have to contribute to this thread.
I just sorta saw a new KFC commercial and I don't think it was Norm McDonald in that stupid white suit. Do we have a new Col. Sanders? Already?
Is that my tio Pepe? The colonel kind of reminds me of my Cuban uncle Pepe. He loved dressing in all white. White shoes, white belt, white shirt, white hat, etc. Plus, he was always smoking a cigar.
Yet another Col. Sanders https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/kfc-just-revealed-colonel-sanders-123000775.html
What? The sultan of sun-tan is now the new Col. Sanders? Well, I guess the boudoir roles dry up when you're 77. I should know! At least he doesn't have to wear a chicken-suit! A hot 8 hours on La Cienega Boulevard - for $10 per - would be murder... His illustrious career - here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Hamilton_(actor) J.
Has anyone else noticed that the new Col. Sanders is Rob Lowe? Rob Lowe Is The New KFC Colonel | Fortune.com
Well, then there's the fact that Dolph Ziggler and now Shawn Michaels have been the Colonel recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mff3w2o-A7c If I were in the audience that night, I would have lost my mind :slaphappy: It's creepy enough that they are treating Colonel Sanders as a mascot when he was a real person, but they are clearly weirding people out on purpose at this point, and effectively making their advertisements memorable.
It's like, do you really want your company's founder to be thought of in the same way as Elvis impersonators?
