I've often thought of pennies as more of an annoyance than a useful currency. Inflation over many years has rendered the penny irrelevant.
I agree. I typically don't even worry about pennies. They can't be used in a vending machine, and you have to gather hundreds of them to make rolling them worthwhile.
The U.S. dollar is worth what, 3% of what it was a century ago? Pennies and nickels have outlived their usefulness. One dollar bills have as well, and probably even fivers.
I rarely carry paper or coin currency anymore, anyway. I primarily use my debit card. It's less bulky, and if the rare event I got robbed, the robber wouldn't get anything. -Matt Brent
