A nationally accredited school holds no less or more value than regional schools.

I understand that your degrees are from a nationally accredited school, and you may be satisfied with the education you received. Still, many people disagree strongly that NA and RA are the same, and I expect that includes top RA schools that are in a strong position to influence opinion leaders.

That's why the federal law is being put into place.

"The federal law is being put into place"? I assume you're referring to the willingness of the new Senate Education Committee Chair to sponsor such a bill? There's a big, big distance from that to a law being put into place.

When talking about correspondence/DL degree programs the DETC has been a major player in this arena for quite some time. RA schools are being threatened by more affordable NA schools, so the last string they hang onto is regional is "better quality."

That may be true in many cases, and I'll admit there are a number of RA schools that don't impress me any more than the NA schools do.

Actually, Jamie, regionally accredited schools do have more value as credentials than do schools that are nationally accredited, but not regionally accredited. There has not been a lot of reseach done in this area (a good one for those looking for a dissertation topic), but it all points, thus far, to RA being accepted at a level far above NA.

The federal law is being proposed by Enzi, but has not been passed, let alone put into place. Expect the regionals and thier institutions to put up a fight on this one.
