That is my point they don't have a degree accounting program, yet I have met an individual that claims the following:
Education: Ph.D. in accounting, Union Institute and University Cincinnati Ohio, Masters of Taxation, Widener University, Chester Pennsylvania, I BS in Business Administration, Drexel University, Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

I confronted the person: Thanks for sharing your passion for the accounting profession. Now, your bio indicates that you graduate with a PhD in Accounting from the Union Institute & University, while I was researching about the University I found and I have known for many years that the Union Institute does not have a Business School and for that matter and Accounting School, instead that they are an Interdisciplinary Studies school and the students can custom their education in the field of Interdisciplinary Studies. I am just curious, Can you please elaborate your experience with this institution and the faculty and how Interdisciplinary Studies is related to obtaining a PhD in accounting? Sincerely, Vini

    and the person told me:

"Hi Vini Union allows you to design your program, so my program was designed similar to onground accounting PHD programs. The interdisciplinary part of program was the cultural studies with accountings. I focused on how Japanese culture influenced the establishment of accounting regulations as oppose to U.S. culture. I was fortunate to have outstanding accounting faculty to serve on my doctoral committee."

    Big question mark!!!!!!!!!

    I agree with you here.

It may come about the same as NCU with all the incentives you indicated and cheaper than Argosy.

    No. See: http://tui.edu/cohort/overview.asp

The PDE seems to be gone.

The PDE could take the form of a traditional dissertation, but learners did have the flexibility to produce other projects that also rose to the scholarship level of a dissertation. This appears to be no more. (I was once told more than 90% of learners did a traditional dissertation, anyway.)

Big answer, actually. That's how it was. The learner was surrounded by experts, including two adjucts from his/her field of study, brought in from outside Union.

Understood, but in this person case there was none, I read the person's dissertation and none were accounting expert.

Well, it was nice while it lasted.

Anyway, my point was that a perfectly legitimate doctoral program may not use the term "dissertation"; it may take another name like PDE or "Doctoral Study Project" but that shouldn't necessarily raise a red flag.

    great!!

I was searching for DBA's with no dissertation or residency. Jones was an option and so was Colorado Technical University's Doctor of Management degree. But, now Walden is a very viable option for me. :D

    Thnx

This DBA still has a "Doctoral Project" which could be the equivalent of a dissertation.
