Much as I hate Andrew Jackson for evicting the Cherokees, Chickasaws, Choctaws, Creeks, and Seminoles from the Southeast and sending them to Oklahoma, nevertheless, I still think Andrew Jackson University is a much better name than New Charter University. Like, do we really need two NCUs in the world of distance learning?

That's what you said, but that is not what she said.

Thanks again, by the way. Now I have bread and cheese, but I've already met my caloric limit for the day. Uuuuugggh. I'm just going to have to find a way to not think about it until tomorrow morning :Eyecrazy:

I never liked New Charter's name, I just didn't get serious stomach upsets like some others here did thinking about it.

However, Mr. Heiks, I think you have nailed the coffin shut with that thought.

I don't know how much has changed other than the name and the program selections, but I can tell you from experience that Andrew Jackson University was rigorous, the customer service was excellent, and all my credits transferred to Excelsior College. There was nothing sub-par about the school or the courses.

I'm not sure what I would have thought of Andrew Jackson were I alive back then. I do know that his evicting of the Native Americans stopped the potential for a civil war between federal troops and the state militias of Georiga and a few neighboring states. Was it the "right" thing to do? Who knows, likely not. Was it pragmatic? Certainly. The death toll in an open conflict would have been very high and with a good possibility of disolution of the Union (which was stronger in Abe Lincoln's day). And don't forget Andrew Jackson had an adopted Native American son who was part heir to his estate.

I recommend the Life and Times of Andrew Jackson by H.W. Brand. A very enlightening read.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to go over to amazon and put it on my wish list.

That was, without question, the most useful thing anyone has said in this thread :notworthy:

I registered to try their "try-free" courses. I am actually looking for a master's program in IT with software concentration.
Within 24 hours, I got a call from their admissions dept. The guy was a little pushy, and was trying to "sell" me into management programs.

I liked their programs. The content is ok, and the price is just right. I wish they had some IT programs too.
