Does anyone have an opinion or analysis of the programs and academics at National University? National University • Accredited Online, On-Campus College Degrees for Adults in Continuing Education, San Diego I am wanting to finish my degree program and have looked at AMU and UMASS so far. Thanks
When you say complete my degree program which program are you referring to?? If you can tell us a little more about what you are looking into we might be able to help.
Current student of AMU and plan to attend National for my Masters degree. I have researched a lot on National over the past few months and have found absolutely nothing to be alarming. The are RA and carry a number of specialized accreditations. Their programs are expedited as their semesters are 4 weeks in length and you complete 1 class per semester. Most of their Master's level degrees can be completed in under 15 months. Bachelors level semesters are still 4 weeks in length and you are allowed to take 3 classes per semester.
I hear National University is a good school. The only problem I have with them is their advertising campaign. I live in Los Angeles and I see their commercials playing side-to-side with commercials from schools like ITT, UOP and those 9-month "medical" schools. I wish they would lay off the bombardment because it makes them come off as a for-profit school, when in fact they're non-profit & RA. It's not that big of an issue, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me. They seem to have a pretty solid undergrad program for Computer Science and I was actually considering them at one point but I ended up choosing another school instead. I may look into them again when the time comes for my MS.
Thank You all for the comments so far. I am particularly interested in their online information systems program and I am tossing up what is feasible. They seem to be very expensive and I imagine the workload must be high but you also finish sooner. I plan on seeing what credits will transfer and go from there.
I have a master's earned at National University. They are a top notch school. Great programs, great teachers and solid accreditation. You should not worry at all. They are very expensive, though. You should look into Excelsior if you are looking for a cheaper alternative.
Excelsior is an online-only school, and it does not offer MS in Information System. University of Illinois Online is a better alternative as it offers a solid MS in Management Information Systems (may require GRE - not sure) for $322 per credit hour (less than 1K per class). However, should you decide to stick with National, you'd still be in good hands. Their tuition is not too far off anyway (between $1,500 and $1,600 per class)...
Do you mind sharing what was th wor load like in terms of numbers of papers you have to write or the mode of evaluation? Many thanks
