    I'm proud of all my degrees, but my Associate's degree is special for me, mostly because it took the longest to earn so far (I chipped away at it for YEARS) and like you mentioned, it made me say "Yeah, I can do this!".

    I was the opposite. I did it in 8 weeks, all by examination. I was working as an education specialist in the Air Force and had taken a ton of CLEP exams and was lamenting the fact that the school I attended at night (Western New England College) limited credit by examination to 30 s.h. A counselor I worked with mentioned Regents and I was off and running. It took 16 months to do my B.S. in business the same way. The B.A. (concentration in Sociology) came along 3 months later. But the Ph.D. took 17 years (with a huge break during), so it all evened out!

    I'm on the 7-year plan for my doctorate, which if it goes according to plan, will be about 2 years less than it took for my Associate's degree
