Although the dominant Doctorate model is the PhD, professional doctorates eg EdD, DBA and the DProf which is different again from the former two and sometimes called the third generation doctorate, are in my opinion more appealing from an employer perspective. This for different reasons, the professional Doctorate, IMO, produces a valid and reliable research that can contribute to produce knowledge and improve the practice, and most importantly it obtain its “validity” by peer review and acceptance among professionals and organizations.

It seems as though each school that offers a bridge has a different admissions requirement. UF's is below which would not allow a Capella PhD in (unless I am reading this wrong).

Geared toward Ph.D.s from non-business[/b] disciplines, the five AACSB-endorsed Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Programs prepare doctorates with research backgrounds, including economics, engineering, math, psychology, sociology, and statistics for careers as faculty in a business school.

    Program Overview
The Post-Doctoral Bridge (PDB) program in the Hough Graduate School of Business of the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida is designed to prepare participants for teaching and research careers in business schools, and we welcome participants who fall under either one of the following categories:

non-business doctorate degree holders who received their doctoral degree from an institution whose business program is AACSB accredited.
non-business doctorate degree holders who currently teach at an AACSB accredited business program.

The University of Strathclyde, which is AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accredited offers a PhD in Accounting that may be completed externally with limited residency.

When I contacted Grenoble, I was told that you could apply with a business doctorate provided that you would want to specialize in a different field than your doctorate. However, you still need to be faculty at a AACSB accredited school to apply.

I guess they are all different - here is Tulane -
Tulane University Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program

    Program Overview
...The program qualifies graduates to conduct research in their specialty and teach in AACSB-accredited business schools for a period of five years from the date of completion.

What happens after 5 years? Another $42K to get re-certified?

Every 5 yrs... thats insane !!!

Compared to this, its better to do a DL DBA from Aston/Grenobel/Manchester etc and spend about $60K once!!.

or Kennessaw state DBA at about $72K.

They may have to complete a RA MBA or MSM to get into the program. There are a whole bunch of these programs online for cheap(www.geteducated.com). Most UK universities do not require MBA/MSM from an AACSB school to get into AACSB accredited DL DBA program.
