Any ideas on a good in depth course on Middle East Culture? [Undergraduate,Online] Somebody on this forum pointed me toward APU/AMU. I'd like to know if there are any other options?

Any help is appreciated, the sooner the better thanks, TAL

Since you are talking about undergraduate credit you might be able to test out of this. If your school allows it, you could satisfy this requirement through the DSST Introduction to the Modern Middle East exam. I'm taking this one myself.

If you have to take a class, this thread has some ideas that can help you:

Here are a couple of possible choices.

    Metropolitan State College of Denver
    HIS 3760 Section
    Modern Middle East
This course explores the volatile history of the Middle East region with special emphasis on the post-World War II period. Eight essay lessons, research paper.

    Metropolitan State College of Denver
    HIS 3770 Section
    World of Islam
This course is designed to introduce students to the evolution and spread of Islam and its various forms in the world. The main purpose should be to understand the impact Islam has had and continues to have on the world, and also how the non-Muslim world influences the development of Islam. 8 essay lessons and an assessment paper.

Oops! My bad. A logical conclusion, unless the poster's real name is Sybil of course... ;-)

University of Notre Dame (OpenCourseWare) http://ocw.nd.edu/arabic-and-middle-east-studies/islamic-societies-of-the-middle-east-and-north

Both offer undergraduate level courses; I believe they’re free, but may not offer academic credit (?).

There are many different types of cultures. It depends on what kind of culture/s you are interested in.

The college where I work is offering a class this summer on Middle Eastern History - Online Schedule of Classes

It's HIS 251... although if you're not in Virginia you'd have to pay out of state Virginia.
