I have class right now with a gentleman from the DoD I believe. He is working out of U.S. Armed Forces Pacific if that makes any sort of sense. Right now he is doing an M.B.A. with a specialization in Project Management and the DoD supports paying for programs from the college. I guess it would be helpful if I mentioned it was Ellis/New York Institute of Technology. Basically you are online under Ellis and your degree comes from NYiT. All the classes are developed "in cooperation" with Standford, Columbia Business School, and several others... You can PM me if you want to know more and I'll do what I can but Im also several courses into my MBA with a specilization in Technology Management. w00t :)

    Horric,

Could you tell me a little about your courses? How long does a course typically last? Is there groupwork? How many hours do you put into your studies a week? The MBA in Technology Management looks interesting to me...

Also, is the GMAT required or any business prerequisites?

    Thanks :)

    Rhonda

Sure... Classes run one at a time with six week intervals... I havn't had a single easy class yet as the schedule is rather demanding. I spend most nights heading home and reading he night away and chatting/video conferencing with class mates. Most of the classes I have had so far involve these projects due every week that are based on real life scenario's and encompass everything that you have learned in the previous 5 weeks if you were on week six for example. There arn't any tests as like I said everything is project related. Each one of my Prof's so far have been from prestegious schools and all but one have either started or are in charge of fairly large companies. Group work is also in some of the coursework and the prof's try to make teams out of people in similar timezones which is always nice. They keep increasing functionality and so forth month by month to give us what we want and what we ask for. Depending on what program you choose there are different credit loads. If Im remembering right without logging in, my credit load is 45 credits or fifteen classes over six weeks a piece which would amount to 90 weeks or a little less than two years. I general business M.B.A. is slightly less. Im not sure if I addressed everything here or not..

Oh, GMAT is not required and 2 years of "business" experience is required. If there is anything else feel free to get in touch with me... I guess I can plug the web address ellis.nyit.edu

Perhaps I missed it, but I was not able to easily locate the tuition cost. If you don't mind, how much does it cost? Thanks.

Honestly, I couldn't tell ya as my company is paying for it. Most of us that go there were recommended by our respective companies to go to the school... My CTO recommended it and is having the company pay for it...

I get all my eduction reimbursed by my employer. The other side of that coin is that I am my employer, so I'm still kind of cost conscious!

Yea, I can see that... I remember when he first recommended the choice he said that the cost was nothing to a $15 Billion dollar bank holding company... LOL If you are cost conscious which I doubt the DOD is then I would say you may want to look elsewhere. I can however vouch for the quality of the education.

You might do a little research at www.salary.com to find out which MBA specialty would be most remunerative.
