This is neither funny nor necessary.

Part of the concept of distance learning is that there are no boundaries. We could earn degrees from universities located in other countries. Others could earn degrees located in our country. This means that people who are not native English speakers will be posting on this board. Their English language skills are sufficient that we know what they are asking/seeking. If you want to criticize them on the the merits of their question then I say "Go for it." If you're going to criticize them on their English language skills then I'd say you're a small person. Chances are reallyreally good that once upon a time your ancestors had poor English language skills. So what?

Try to take the high road.

    The Ten Day MBA

I agree. I am currently taking classes for my MBA and use this as an alternate resource to the textbooks for each class. It comes in very handy.

I agree that my post was unnecessary piling on. I want all of you to know it wasn't intended to be critical of the OP's English skills, and I'm sorry and embarrassed that it came off that way. I recognize now how it could easily be taken as such. I would gladly edit my post if it were open to do so.

It does appear (at least to me) though that the OP is trying to sell something.

  6. Yeah, but your graduation will be unevenly cooked and somewhat soggy. The cost for the Ramen MBA is $1 for 6.... or $5 for 45 at Costco.

Too long AND too expensive. This one gives you a 30% discount if you write in your name and degree specification on the diploma yourself.

Also, there's the NEW (and only slightly more expensive) innovation of a dry-erase diploma for those who have trouble deciding on a single career path.

The markers that come with it are ISO accredited.

My ancestors were Spanish Taino Indian immigrants who spoke little to no English. I would be one of the first to replicate your post if I thought someone was insulting a culture. I thought that Phillip was referring to the confusing and millish nature of the op's post. For all I know, this person may not even be from India. I could give a crap if the person is from India, China, Japan or planet x. If the person has a question, I'll be happy to help them regardless of their ethnicity and place of origin.

LOL. I have yet to listen to Beck rant about degreemills.

I don't see what all the fuss is about even if someone's goal was to make fun of OP's English. Had OP been a regular visitor simply asking questions it would have been inappropriate, but here we have a person advertising an educational institution (mwahaha) which is supposed to be using English as the medium of instruction. Of course his command of English is a valid point to consider here. If I as a non-native English speaker have to take the TOEFL or IELTS simply to gain admission to a US or UK university and this is considered normal, why should this particular individual supposedly representing a degree-granting institution (mwahaha) be exempt from having to learn to write at least decent English when promoting the above mentioned "institution"?

You're taking this political correctness thingy a bit too far here in my opinion Kizmet. :)

It's funny that, at least if I'm not mistaken, this is probably how "how nice" would have been pronounced prior to the Great vowel shift.

Kizmet brings up some valid points. It is my hope that distance education around the world can continue to break cultural boundaries and bring people of all nationalities together to discuss issues, share new ideas, and promote international business networking.

I know. I was just lightening up the mood, or trying at least. I did love the muppet show and sesame street. Especially the cookie monster.

Isn't there a rule against shilling on Degreeinfo? Otherwise every unaccredited school and diploma mill would create threads to advertise their wares.

Hmmm. To me there's a difference between making people aware of an obscure school/program and advertising (The tos specifically prohibits advertising). I started a sticky thread (School/Program of the Week) specifically for this purpose. We typically don't allow people to link to diploma mills and there are numerous examples of times when an Admin has messed up those links. The issue of unaccredited schools is a grey area but it is clear that discussion of unaccredited schools occurs because we have a forum specifically related to unaccredited schools. If you have information that indicates that the school in question is a diploma mill then I'm sure we'd like to know and would take appropriate steps. Also, I'd like to thank all the members who alert us to the various shenanigans that occur on this board. To my knowledge, this is the most active distance learning discussion site and it's difficult to monitor every new thread and post. I would also like to say that I appreciate the participation of Dr. Pina as well as the many other members who have experience and expertise in their subject area as well as distance learning. Happy holidays everybody!
