What online/distance learning instituition could I seek a Master's degree from which allows around 50% of the degree requirements to be awarded from prior learning/learning portfolio, that is either DETC accredited or may seek such in the future, that is inexpensive???

I know that for a school to be accredited, they can only allow so many to be transferred this way---I realize that.
I'm not looking for a quick degree, just one from a reputable school, that is extremely affordable, that recognizes my accomplishments!

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

Excelsior is one of the most liberal of the RA colleges with transfer credit and portfolio evaluation. They are probably one of the lower priced of the regionally accredited schools too. Portfolio Assessment - excelsior.edu

Best you'll get is about 30% for direct transfer of credits. You can add American Public University (APU) and Trident University International (TUI) to the names mentioned above. I think Eastern New Mexico University has a similar policy to Amberton's, but you'd have to ask.

Depending on the school, they may waive certain requirements or allow other coursework in lieu of requirements if you have more than their limit in transfer credits.

If you are talking about transfering credits for graduate level courses taken at other universities, some schools will accept 20-30%, I don't know of any that accept 50%

If you are talking about getting credit for your life experience/portfolio (not formal graduate courses you took) I know of no schools that give graduate credit towards a masters degree for that.

Unless your accomplishments involve taking actual graduate classes, I think you are going to have trouble finding what you want.

Excelsior's portfolio assessment only counts for undergraduate credit, not graduate credit.

To the OP: What field are your trying to get a Masters in? What type of life experience do you have that you want to convert into credits?

Thanks you all for your posts!! This is great. I would like my Master's to be in Management and or Psychology/counseling (maybe). Since I have been on this site, I have heard alot about NationsU. Having said that..... I now have a question about Master's degrees in Religious Studies. What could one do outside of a church with a Master's Degree in Religious Studies???

I am very interested in this as well!!
