Hi! I am currently finishing my degree in accounting (not distance learning) and I want a degree in Bachelors of Business Administration. I don't want to pay more than 10 000 USD in school fees for the whole degree.
Is your accounting degree not a bachelors? It's informal terms so kind of imprecise, but when I read "accounting degree" that's a flavor of business administration. Phillip
Then why don't you go for an MBA instead? I assume your degree is not from American's school. Am I right? If it is...why do you need a second Bachelor degree? You can get an MBA for less than $8,000.00 instead a second useless Bachelor.
Well I wanted a new bachelors in case I want to do something else besides accounting. But I can do an MBA as well. Do you have any recommendations?
If you can hack accounting, I would advise you to stay with it. The median pay is OK ( Accountant Salary & Job Description, Accounting Salary Data - PayScale ) the job opportunities are usually a little better and the opportunities to teach are better than some other fields.
I too agree that an accounting degree is akin to a business degree and that an MBA is better than a BBA. But if you really want a BBA check out Excelsior - you need as few as 30 units. However if Excelsior thinks you already have a business degree then they will not let you have a second one. Why not get a second degree in something that will make you stand out from the crowd; e.g., a BS in QA, Math, Science, economics, or something like an Excelsior BSLS in which you can format your own degree including up to 50 semester units of professional courses.

To the list above, I submit the one that I am strongly considering: Eastern New Mexico University: $5415 (if you stick to taking 6 credits or less per semester). That number includes not just tuition, but all fees as well. The only other expense would be books.
That is a price that is hard to beat, especially for a regionally accredited master's degree. I don't think I have seen a RA master's any cheaper.
University of Louisiana-Monroe 30-CH MBA: Tuition per 12-CH block is $2023.26 ($168.60 per CH). If my math is correct, program tuition should be not much more than $5100. All online students are charged in state tuition rate. Moreover, the MBA is AACSB accredited. ULM's Gateway to Online Degrees (GOLD): The Master of Business Administration (MBA)
An accounting bachelors is a great degree. Like others have said, do the MBA if looking to do more schooling.
Hi Norli, I too am considering getting a BA in Bus. Admin. I'm almost finished with ACCA, and I feel that I'm missing out on having a Bsc/BA. Most students after finishing ACCA that I know of end their academic lives there. Few others go on to do a MBA. Whilst I know that I am going to do the Heriot-Watt MBA or Msc Finance ( getting 4 exemptions ) later on, I still want to get a BA. I have recently seen many "Top Up" degree programmes being offered. The one that stands out the most, and has DL teaching where I am (Trinidad) is from the University of Hertfordshire. It would take approximately 1 year to complete and I would have a BA (hons) Bus Admin. Could this be an option for you ? Maybe there are many other "top up" degrees available to you where you are. That being said, is there anyone here that has done a top up degree and found it worthwhile ? 1 yr or Saturday classes and exams every 4 months seems a good trade off for an additional certificate....
Keegan, once you hold an MBA or MSc, what's the advantage of going backwards to get a first degree? I mean, what will you be able to do with it that you couldn't do with the MBA?
Hi Steve, I'm a full time student now, and I plan on doing the MBA/Msc later on...maybe 3-5 years down the road. I was considering doing the top up BA right after I'm finished with ACCA whilst working. Btw undergrad tuition is free for local students in Trinidad, the only thing I would have to pay for is exam/registration fees to the external university.
Well I'm thinking of doing the BA right after ACCA, as its very flexible. The Msc is for about 4-5 years down the road. Tuition for undergrads is free in Trinidad so I was thinking of taking advantage of it.
