In that case I would do both 18/18. Okay I will be looking for the other thread.

Okay, good. Now one more question: Would a person with an MA in one discipline have an advantage over a person with a MLA in two disciplines, in your opinion?

I have a MA in one discipline, Humanities, and as such am only able to teach in that field. But my chances are greater than someone who has only 18 in Humanities.

Michael- 18 credits in Humanities and 18 hours in History

    Cravenco-36 credits in Humanities

As far as consideration, who will be looked at first?

But also you have to remember many degrees overlap. Philosophy and Religion overlap as does Humanities Philosophy and Religion overlap.

Ahh, that's where I'm having a problem. I would prefer to teach in two areas -- writing and religion, but I also need to be realistic and probably go for the area and degree that would give me the best chance of getting a job, in the subjects I am drawn to.

So I guess my choices are these: MFA Creative Writing; MLA, literature and rel/phil; MLA phil/rel; or MA Theology, or Philosophy; MAIS Eng/Writing.

Schools: National U.; Baker U.; WNMU; Holy Apostles

Just found out that National will require, as of September 2010, 13 courses for the MFA Creative Writing rather than 10. So, that puts it out of reach for me financially, as the degree will now cost almost $20,000.
