    Hi sideman,

    Thanks for the response.
Did you qualify to take the CP exam with the NWCU JD?

No. Years ago I took a certificate course with Southern Career Institute (NA-since closed). That's what qualified me to take National Association of Legal Assistants certification exam.

The UofL LLB is portable to most common law jurisdictions (excluding the USA) with relatively little effort, and the institution is fairly well-respected.

Regarding California, you can become eligible to write the bar exam with a foreign degree if you do an additional year of ABA-approved or California accredited law school. You could be doing a year of night school if there's a local ABA-approved one, while simultaneously doing the UofL degree, and end up eligible to write the bar exam in three years. The UofL degree must be acceptable to the bar examiners, so it would be good to contact them first to see if they'll approve it.

You can read more about this at Rule 4.30(A) of the Rules of the State Bar: http://rules.calbar.ca.gov/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=-2KV5j0w6Cw%3d&tabid=1227
