    Fascinating...

It never ceases to amaze me what can happen when people who know what they are doing (such as John Bear) display their ability to go beyond "cursory looks".

For my part, I have never been considered as a part of the famous "Gang" and I continue to come back after some 3 1/2 years and 1150+ posts. During that time, there have been many frank discussions of my profession, research, religion and opinions. I have welcomed each discussion.

With the exception of one embarrassingly imbalanced "hit & run" poster who seemed to have problems with my Hispanic surname, I have never suffered anything that could be remotely classified as abuse.

Mssrs. Hayes, Crabbe, et al., really should focus some efforts on developing some actual content on their "alternative" forums, rather than simply obsessing on Degreeinfo.

"Obsessing" is an excellent term. I would estimate that well over half the posts there are concerned with what we're doing here.

I looked at the active threads at both sites and found some interesting things.

I defined "active" as those with posts since May 1st, whenever the thread was actually started.

Their site has 60 such threads. These threads contain a total of 266 posts. Of these threads, 23 were about this forum (Degreeinfo.com). That's 38%. ("About this forum" means the title of the thread or the first post in the thread was focused on this forum and/or its members.)

Degreeinfo has 136 threads with posts since May 1st. These threads contain 1916 posts. Of the 136 threads, exactly two are about Degreeinformation DL (both begun by John Bear regarding Neil Hayes). This is one of them. That's 1.4% of the active threads.

Finally, Dr. Evans over there has asked why there isn't more cross-posting. Well, they've banned so many people, it's hard to have that. Some of us were banned without ever posting a single time. A couple of them were banned here, but only after posting, not before. Many of them retain their accounts here, but choose not to use them.

I'm amazed anyone goes there to find information, having to cut through all the noise.
