Welcome back, Rich. Missed you. Hope to cross swords with you on some subject of great importance soon. :)

See? This is the attitude of DI that we should embrace. I don't recall what little fauss and I tussled over--I seldom do--but whatever it was, it was easy to let pass and get on with "the next big thing."

    [Sounds of pre-emptive sword-sharpening in the background ;) ]

Nahhh, just looking forward to the next good natured intellectual horseplay (well, pseudo-intellectual, at least my part of it) where we battle, call down fires from heaven upon each other--then dust off and have a beer together.

The thing I like about DI is that we seem to have this understanding that no matter how heated it gets, whether-or-not one of the debaters occasionally slides into ad hominem or invective, we 're able to put the other side's humanity above all considerations and move on with life. It reminds me of law school. There were very few people with whom I disagreed--sometimes violently--that I couldn't still call a friend at the end of the day.

Sword sharpening? Sounds more like plutonium separation to ME!

Brings to mind the black preacher John Jasper and his most excellent sermon The Sun Do Move.
