Interesting look at where students are going to school for technical skills.... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8420734/
In college, I lived next to the computer science dorm; I was a computer science student. I can tell you that my computer science classmates were the definition of geek. Did you see "The Revenge of the Nerds"? Those characters were jocks compared to my classmates and I'm understating somewhat here. On Saturday nights, when all the other students were enjoying refreshing adult beverages with the company of cheerful and delightful young ladies, my computer science classmates were writing device drivers for antique hardware. And this was not homework, they were actually derelict in their studies. Of course I don't want to mislead. They had their own version of fun such as a drunken water balloon fight, ending with the building fire alarm. Apparently, a water balloon striking the fire detector sets it off. 8 floors (plus the basement) had to be evacuated. Computer science will *never* shed the geek connotation.
"Computer Science"? When the article says "computer science" I wonder whether they mean computer science and not just CIS. When I was at Strayer, they had many sectons of their Computer Networking program, but nothing that anyone in computer science would call "computer science". -=Steve=-
