I've seen a substantial increase in the television advertising for Kaplan and DeVry. I'm wondering if this is true where you live.
Where is your part of the country? Here in NJ I have heard about Devry for a long time. The TV adds for Kaplan are newer. I find them really annoying.
Not Really DeVry advertises heavily on the transit system in my area, but that is nothing new. ITT Technical institute, the same. I don't think I've ever seen anything for Kaplan outside of the internet. Not too long after a certain unaccredited school was brought up in a thread, I have seen it being advertised all over FlyOrDie (online game site).
Dallas, Washington D.C, and SoCal. DeVry University University of Phoenix Kaplan University ITT Technical Institute Westwood College as well.
Kaplan and UOP in the Northeast. WGU has stepped up its online banner presence lately too. Thing with Kaplan is they just spent a ton of money picking up small B&M colleges and career schools up here too, I expect it's the same nationwide. As an aside and well-known on this forum they've also grabbed Concord Law School. So it's no surprise that they're now advertising to pick up the bandwidth of their new offerings.
I've seen plenty of Devry ads on TV lately, but only a couple of Kaplan ads. Plenty of UOP too here in and around Annapolis...
There have been DeVry ads recently on the SF and SJ TV stations. Expensive ads associated with high-viewer programming.
Kaplan. And lots of it. Very slick, very salesy, very enticing. Well thought out, and with very questionable motives. In short, great marketing.
In CA the trend is towards vocational training right now. You see more and more tech. schools on TV. One of the reasons is these type of schools can be paid for by WIA (Workforce Investment Act) funds available to the unemployed through local city governments. The training usually has to be completed in one year or less. Business is damn good for them right now. Abner
I have seen Kaplan a lot, it seems to be growing from strength to strength offering more and more degrees from diplomas to doctorates. Must be doing a roaring business!
