Where did you get this from? There are ways of having group activities in an e-learning system, depending on the type of learning modality used. The University of Phoenix has been doing this forever, in an asynchronous mode as well. Teamwork need not be accomplished at the same time, but team members need to carry thier weight, which is not always the case online or onground. At the University of Phoenix, team members are able to rate each other's performance, so slackers may get their due if everyone cooperates in the grading process.

Most of the moneymaker skills I possess have been learned on my own time by reading books and doing actual work.
I taught myself basic, C, C++, VisualBasic, C#, ASP.NET, MFC, ATL, JSF, DirectX, XNA Programming, assembly, computer repair, windows server administration, networking, TCP/IP, finance, accounting, economics, marketing, management, organizational behavior, biology, anatomy and physiology.
Learning no more has to occur in a classroom than spirituality has to occur in a church.
I do agree that becoming a doctor requires clinical work that is hands on, just like computer programming requires access to a computer and a compiler. Its just that the latter is easier to come by.
Basketball is not a lesser sport than golf because it is more accessible to the masses.

Thanks! I also earned my MCSE, MCSD, Sun Certified Java Programmer, CISSP and Network+ certifications by self-study.
I learned how to build my first computer in 1990 by purchasing parts from the Computer Shopper and figuring out how they connected in my bedroom.

I also taught myself how to lay tile, hang drywall, install crown moulding. All this without a college course :)
Oh yeah and I have installed headers, cat-back exhausts, replaced ball joints, control arms, radiators etc with a Chilton's manual.
Given the desire, you can learn anything.
