What evidence do you have to the veracity of your statement? Perhaps you could at least elaborate on what you mean? All I see is SRU representatives repeating that they are a bona fide university.

Claiming that it is a bona fide university doesn't make it one. Getting someone in the Liberian embassy to join your charade doesn't make a bona fide university. Selling degrees to 75% of the people that answer test questions totally randomly means that SRU can't be a bona fide university no matter what else they do or don't do.

    Bill,

Your biased opinion does not negate their claims either. Tit for Tat.....YAWN.

So in your own test 25% FAIL to make the cut. I wonder what the failure rate would be at other universities?

    Very funny bozzy,

Taking one test to earn a degree is not possible at real universities. The reason it is not possible is that an AA degree requires 60 semester units. For arguments sack say 20 classes. A test to cover 20 classes would take at least 40 hours.

Now let's do a comparison, the SRU test takes a few minutes and if you answer all the questions randomly you have a 25% chance of failing. You tell me what you would guess the fail rate would be on a 40 hour test and all the questions are answered randomly?

So the GRE subject exams worth up to 36 credits each at Empire State College (and up to 30 at Excelsior College) take 24 hours each?

You still haven't answered Bill Huffman's question. What justifies this assertion: "Also, SRU seems intent on establishing themselves as a bona - fide University"?

There are a number of non-accredited schools that I like for various reasons. I've posted about some of them repeatedly. But I've always tried to be reasonably clear about why I like them.

    Why do you like SRU?

    because...

One reason for paying less attention to Glencullen is that the FTC injunction and amended complaints against Mountain View Systems ordered the University Degree Program to pull the plug on its sites, including those that were operated by them, but not named in the injunction. So the FTC's said what it thinks about Glencullen. The UDP folks generally didn't bother to assert that they were offering anything to their clients other than credentials.

This reminds me of the joke about the mathematician who woke up in the middle of the night, saw that his house was on fire, looked out the window, saw a fire hydrant, exclaimed "Ah, a solution exists", and went back to sleep.

The FTC injunction may provide all the theoretical proof you want. But if people are still using these "credentials" in academia and getting away with it, isn't our house still on fire?

For arguments sake let's say that there's 25 hours in a day.

    OK..so you need clarification.

This is a colloquial cliche often used by the antipodean natives from the southern hemisphere (the other half Roy) also expressed as "mature enough" BUT then again being from Canada you probably have not travelled extensively beyond the local Tim Hortons.

Bill's original question - I answer, that this is how it is perceived by a reasonable person. It speaks to the intention of SRU and not an endorsement of them.

I never said I liked them, but I do not dislike them either; a neutral stance, ( I actually once alluded that they might not be the sharpest tool in the shed), but I welcome variety and it certainly stirrs some emotive debate.

Why is it that if someone wishes to hold a pragmatic view on the issue of accreditation, that the zealots out there always find a way of venting their righteous indignation?

    Bozzy,
You're obviously the type of guy who thinks that being a hot shot smart ass is okay so long as you can remain anonymous by hiding behind a PC. So, let's get a few things straight for the audience. First, your apology should have been directed to both Dennis and myself. You apology was only directed to Dennis. Perhaps you should look into taking a DL course in manners and professional conduct.
Having traveled the world extensively in my early years, I’ve had the opportunity to experience many cultures, customs and ways of life. Perhaps the most valuable experience I learned was how others demonstrate courtesy and respect. It’s apparent that you lack these qualities since you were most likely raised in a dysfunctional family.
As for remark about Tim Horton’s? Yes I would be honored to show you just how clean they keep their floors because you would be face down on the floor wondering who turned out the lights.

Roy, I pondered about the manner in which I should reply to your verbal denigration of my upbringing and pugilistic threat which so clearly violates the TOS.

I therefore have a solution; a duel at your local Timmies. You may choose the weopons of course; might I suggest the apple cinnamon donuts as your weopon of choice, I remember them as light, yet fluffy with a delicate taste.

This is of course only acceptable if I have a handicap, such as is used in the game of golf, to advance the game fairly, afterall you have the upper hand at donut chomping. We also do not want you to travel too far as this might tire you for the night of festivities.

    See ya there Eh!

Of course it was. Read the original post again and you will see why the apology extended only to Dennis.

I am too tired to have to explain this to you and will leave it to you to figure out.

Actually bozzy, I do not eat donuts or any other type of junk food. I am not a fan of Tim Horton's or Dunkin Donuts. As for my snappy remarks? I never back down from a challenge. Perhaps that retort comes from my previous background as a part-time bouncer (with black belts in Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). This was how I financed my studies while attending university.

If you found my statement threatening, then report me to the moderators. Let them decide my fate.

This is too much, the original post was not even directed at you, it was directed at Dennis.

When did I challenge you, you laughed at my expression and I informed you of the true meaning. So much for the decorum you learned on your alleged travels.

Somehow I just knew you would describe yourself as a chop suey artist.

Relax Roy, the Sensei has not yet signalled KUMITE!

At the risk of being accused (yet again) of giving someone "the last word", I'm closing this thread.

May I suggest that the antagonists meet at a mutually agreeable place to see who can pee the furthest, and settle it once and for all? :D
