    Dear all,

After nearly 2 years of sporadic activity, I finally received a cheque in the mail today from Earlscroft University, covering my $4,000 in legal costs.

Some of you AED refugees may remember the frenzy of activity in 2001 (do an archive search on Google), where Earlscroft alleged that I called them a degree mill and a host of other allegations.

Well, justice is sweet my friends. Moral of the story - never compromise yourself and *never* back down. The truth will always win.

Now off to the pub for a tinnie or three - my shout!

    Cheers,

    George

Has the cheque cleared yet? (Well done.)

Ha! Sorry, should have clarified that. The cheque came from the trust account here in South Australia where it was required to be placed, as per my court order.

    Cheers,

    George

Splendid news. Thanks for sharing, George.

But who signed the cheque? Was there any information (whether you choose to publish it or not) as to the person or people behind Earlscroft?

Thanks for the congrats John - I knew you would like that one ;)

No, absolutely no information provided on the owners, directors etc. of Earlscroft. As soon as the money was put into trust (a clear sign of wanting to pursue the case), they all went silent.

    Cheers,

    George

PS - relevant article published on Tuesday in the Guardian at http://education.guardian.co.uk/print/0,3858,4749210-108341,00.html with the following quote:

And if you really want a laugh, visit earlscroft.com, the website of "Earlscroft University", which has an "administrative office" in Dulwich, London, "affiliated divisions" in the Irish Republic and is registered in the Seychelles. Earlscroft makes clear it is not accredited in the UK, but claims to be able to grant a degree within 21 days, following a rigorous online "academic appraisal" process grounded in "prior learning or life experience".

But of course these outfits are really nothing to laugh about. The fact that they are able to operate in the UK within the law is deeply worrying. The law needs tightening as a matter of urgency.

Well done George and good to see Peter French back in action.
Hope Peter and George saw my post about New Zealand taking over Australia? I did, however, nominate them both for the vacant Presidential position of this new Empire.

    Good Stuff George!
Earlscroft probably had to sell all of their assets in order to issue the check. Let's see.....a computer and a mail box worth $600.00. The remaining $3, 400.00 probably was probably a loan from their accreditation agency (somewhere in the South Pacific).:D

    Hip-Hip-Hoorah Good job George!

The UK degree mill laws are a disgrace for the whole nation. I'm ashamed of California for allowing KWU to sell their degrees to others while protecting the California citizens. :( I mean it is good that the UK and California are protecting their own citizens but very selfish and callous to allow the scamming outside the borders.

    Wamest congratulations, George.

And welcome to the club. You now have firsthand knowledge of the old adage, "He who laughs last laughs best." I fel the same thing when the State of Texas fined the MIGS (the Monterey School of Graduate Studies) over $200,000 after they sued me and I laughed my way through the suit.

Hello, I just Googled and discovered your forum here after witnessing a woman here in Chicago, under oath, hand over a Bridgewater University diploma from Docklands London. Is InstantDegrees.com the only website associated with this fake school and Earlcroft and the others? Any other site or source where she could have purchased this diploma (Master Degree in Criminal Law)?

Or any other evidence out there I could turn over to the attorney and Judge?

    Thanks!

    Hi Windy City,

The Bridgewater University degree is from these sources, yes, but you will have great difficulties in getting any more information. These organisations have learned not to put up websites as they are quickly exposed, but use referral services created by themselves.

By the way, what was she under oath for? And what other documentation did she provide?

    Cheers,

    George

She presented a nice wooden framed diploma from Bridgewater U and a letter (that she signed) referring the court to contact a certain representative with address for Docklands and phone number.

I actually have a photocopy of the diploma here and could scan it if anyone wants to see it.

FYI....I did go into the InstantDegrees site and start filling out the form for a degree....and found their wording for Masters of Laws in Criminal Law is an identical match to her diploma.

No doubt, she produced a fake diploma from a website diploma mill -- under oath -- of her own doing. The questioning attorney never even asked her to produce it.

Anyone happen to have a digital photo of the 3 Coborn Road building in Docklands London? I would love to hand that over to the Judge.

Also, I too have seen their Instantdegree site and thought it didn't look too cool as well. All the anonymous schools and all would have gave me the creeps.

I would have taken St. Regis in a heartbeat over them which is a sad statement, at least they say who your dealing and what the school name is......
