Hi all, I've been putting together a degree plan for a BSBA CIS at TESC based on research from this site and the DegreeForum site. I asked a question there about how to find DL courses that will meet some of the CIS elective slots the BSBA CIS requires. A helpful poster there directed me this way, hence this post. The BSBA CIS requires 12 CIS electives taken from a list of "areas." But I can't find TESC courses for the following in their list: Application System Development Basic Design Theory and Decision Making Techniques Computer Logic and Organization (= COS-330 Computer Architecture?) Computer Management Client Server and Net-Centric Computing Computer and Information Technology* Information Systems Administration Job Control Language Systems Network Architectures (=CMP-354 Network Technology?) Networking Principles (LAN/WAN/Internet) (= CAP-302 Computer Networking Systems?) Problem Analysis and Solutions Quantitative Analysis and Information Systems (MAT-119 is for Business, not IS) Social Aspects of Information Technology I'm interested in finding out more about "Basic Design Theory and Decision Making Techniques", "Problem Analysis and Solutions", and "Quantitative Analysis and Information Systems." But I don't see any courses with those or similar names in their course list... Since I was directed to this forum... Is there any sort of compiled "master list" of DL courses from other schools that TESC will accept, that includes the courses above? Where can I find courses in "Basic Design Theory and Decision Making Techniques", "Problem Analysis and Solutions", and "Quantitative Analysis and Information Systems"? I'm not even clear on what each of those are, but they sound fascinating and fun. Thank you!!
Welcome to Degree Info, dcan. We have a number of IT guys who frequent the forum, so I expect that you will find some good information. I have never heard of any master list that you are looking for, but possibly someone else knows more. Here is some important info for new users: http://www.degreeinfo.com/distance-learning-discussions/35100-new-users-ask-where-did-my-posts-go.html
Thanks. I guess I don't really expect a "master list" per se, but rather a list of links to independent study DL courses to take a la carte from other colleges. I could then pick some and ask TESC if they would accept them or not. Unfortunately I don't know where to turn. I know about LSU and BYU and found a couple of smaller ones like Adams, but they don't seem to have what I'm looking for. I also went through the DANTES independent study list and I come up pretty much empty on the following topics that I am most interested in: Basic Design Theory and Decision Making Techniques Problem Analysis and Solutions Quantitative Analysis and Information Systems I'm also interested in finding independent study / distance learning courses in Operations Research, if possible. Thanks!
