watch out stupid social networkers When Colleges Look Up Applicants on Facebook: The Unspoken New Admissions Test | TIME.com
Considering how many of my former students post numerous pictures of themselves at parties participating in underage drinking while at college, I'm not really shocked when they don't make it to the second semester because they're kicked out, or if they end up on academic probation. People think they're profiles are private, but they're not when you "like" certain things, like colleges. -Matt
Yesterday, I googled myself looking for something I needed from a few years back. I found it, but I also found that my facebook comments were searchable. Not "my" page comments, but all the comments from pages I liked (local farmer's market, etc) were searchable and after a long drawn out search, I discovered that cannot be changed! All of my settings are for friends only, but once you comment outside your page, it's public. My comments here are public too, so seriously, I've pretty much thrown in the social media towel.
