    Hi Greg,

I'd agree -- the transfer of 42 credits does seem like a best case scenario, since after transferring my B&M MBA coursework, and doc work, I would still have been required to take 6 more classes.

So, in the end, I decided to instead transfer into the MS - Organization & Management program at Capella (where I was doing a PhD in the same), and will graduate with that at the end of March. I was only required to take two classes which cannot be waived (the first course and the capstone course, which I'm now taking simultaneously . . . an endless source of amusement for my profs, I think!), and that sounded a lot better than doing an extra 6.

Funny thing is, I'm now thinking about returning to my doc studies once I finish. I believe Capella told me that I could return to the place in my program where I left it, but I need to double check and make sure of that. But if I do return, I'll do it at a slower pace than I was before, so I don't burn out again.

What have you decided to do?

    Cheers,
    Adrienne

Thanks for the reply Adrienne! Very informative - and best of luck in your studies.

I suspected as much about Excelsior. In theory the transferability is superior but in practice, it offers nothing unique (that is, if I have to take 6 courses - I can choose a MBA from Aspen, ColSouth, CCHS or Excelsior).

Oddly enough, while researching Excelsior et. all. I stumbled across the Harvard ALM which appears to be a perfect match for me. In my (twisted) logic, if I have to take 6 classes to get a MBA, I may as well take 10 classes to get a degree that has significant brand recognition (not knocking Excelsior et. all. though). Of course, some may look down on the 'Extension' aspect of the ALM...but it's fine with me (and the price is GREAT!).

In short, I'll likely be taking a Oracle 10g class from Harvard Extension starting 2/7.

    Thanks again!

    Greg
