I am so out of it. Not only did I not know about this monumental work (thanks, Lerner), but I only recognize 3 of the 472 contributors. One of the three, however, is Adrienne Brooks, who posts messages here. Perhaps she can tell us more. $995 for 2,415 pages is 41 cents a page. The last Bears' Guide cost 5 cents a page. Hmmm.
Nice catch, Dr. Bear! Strange that they got my name right (back to my maiden) on my article itself within the volume, but not on the contributors' list. Ah, well. Such is life. Unfortunately, I know little more than y'all . . . contributors only got a 50% discount on this, and $500 is still steep for me! So, all I have is a print-ready copy of my own article, and haven't seen any of the others. I've been planning on lobbying Capella to see if they (or the library they are affiliated with, at Johns Hopkins) will pick it up, even in electronic form. From my many commos with Gary Berg, one of the editors, it seems like the set is chock-full of really good information, particularly on DL initiatives outside of the U.S. If anyone's interested in reading my little contribution, "Educational Technology in the Middle East", feel free to send me a PM, and I'll send you a pdf copy. Cheers, Adrienne
