I got the list from the DSST site for testing centers in my state. I called all that were in 1 1/2 hours drive, and not one of the seven that was on the list offered testing. One only offered one test for their nursing program, and the four had never even heard of DSST or Dantes. Has anyone else had this problem in your area? I have several test I would like to take, but can't find a place to take them. I called DSST, and they basically gave me no help. They told me to contact some schools that were not on their list to see if they would like to start offering DSST exams. I tried a couple with no luck. Shouldn't they be doing the calling and setting up centers?
Check out the following thread: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10675&highlight=proctor+exam Or do a search on "proctor exam". Mary A posted a link you can use to use the Consortium of College Testing Centers - they will proctor tests such as DSSTs for a fee. I had the same problem with the DSST website being totally out of date - luckily I finally found a local college that will administer them.
What state are you in? Hi, I had the same problem. Ended up flying to another state, and taking 6 exams in one day. If you can get a local college to proctor, Dantes will allow it. Mike
SC South Carolina. I only tried about 7 on the list that would be a reasonable drive. If I take a lot of test that would mean driving sometimes 2 or more hours one way. It seems like they would update their list, or try to keep a relationship with the schools on their list. I have a call in to see about setting up a proctor. I just hope they will return my call this year. So far DETC people have just acted like I was bothering them when I told them that the places on their list were not participating. Several on the list still had the old area code from about 8-10 yrs. ago.
Contact Strayer University-North Charlotte. They are an open testing center for CLEP and DSST. They are very helpful and accomidating. I took a ton of CLEP and DANTES exams there.
Around here you can take them at a computer training place called The Fourth R. I think it's some kind of chain or franchise. You might check if there's one near you.
