From the website of "one of America's top ten Christian camps." San Moritz is, of course, the first name used by the operator of the massive international diploma mill fraud; more than a dozen names have been used since. I guess I am especially annoyed by people who not only buy a fake degree, but then seem to go out of their way to be called "Doctor." ------------------------------------------------ "Dr. Jim (Last name) is the newest member of the (camp) year-round staff.... He received his MA in Biology from the University of San Diego and graduated cumma sum laude from the University of San Moritz, London, with a Ph.D. in Biology . In addition to teaching science on both the high school and college level, he (is an) Educational Consultant to (the state's) Congressional Delegation in Washington, DC. Dr. Jim, as the campers call him, brings a depth of professionalism ...to (the camp's) programming."
One would think that the reference to "cumma sum laude" would tip off the camp that something might be wrong with his doctorate...
I saw the website both yesterday and today. All traces of "Dr. Jim" appear to have been removed. I'm certain it's entirely coincidental!
Graduate honors? Is it customary for universities to award honors with graduate degrees? I thought that was only done with undergraduate degrees. Gerry Ashton
Mark: I saw the website both yesterday and today. All traces of "Dr. Jim" appear to have been removed. I'm certain it's entirely coincidental! John: Excellent. Another reminder that people actually read this forum. I guess they didn't allow him to stay on as "Mr. Jim."
I didn't think ANY real school awarded such honors at the graduate level. (For example: I graduated with a 4.0 for my MIT yet no such honors were bestowed upon me.) <GRIN> Obviously San Moritz U is a pioneer in such things.
I have never seen latin honors for graduate degrees either. However I have seen other honors bestowed on graduate degrees. My Australian masters was awarded "with Distinction." I have also seen J.D. diplomas marked with "Order of the Coif" emblems. John
cumma sum laude PhD It's not uncommon for honors to be awarded for TAUGHT as opposed to RESEARCH graduate degree in English universities. I've never seen the latin honors used but London gives "Distinguished" and "Mark of Merit" for graduate honors.
Re: deans list Mom, Dad, brother, sister, boyfriend/girlfriend, husband, wife, kids, friends and of course, the student....... Wes
