    Well, did they?

I did unsticky some of the threads that it didn't seem were getting a lot of recent views or updates. If there are some (or all) that people feel like should be re-stickied, I can definitely do that, was just trying to make a little room for current threads.

Good call Chip, my wife was commenting on that yesterday.

I agree. The stickies were getting a little out of hand.

I'm glad to see my sticky survived the cut! I'm proud of the fact it has the most views on DegreeInfo! :D

I think the MA In History sticky was useful as that degree seems to generate quite a few questions.

I'm disappointed that both the MEd Sticky and the EdD Sticky lost their stickies.

I can add them back, I was purely basing it on recent thread views. When we have a page full of stickies in the main discussion area, it tends to detract from the newer threads being posted which tends to decrease overall conversation and interaction.

BUT... we're working on some pretty major overhauls, and I think you'll find that all of the sticky threads plus lots of other content contained in the message board areas, is going to find itself better organized, cross referenced, and more easily accessible (as well as more pleasingly displayed) in coming months :)

Sounds good. I agree with you about there being too many stickies. It's was kind of annoying scrolling through them to get to the new content.

You know I was thinking, why not create another "reference" forum and move most of the stickies there? Maybe it could have pretty much the same rules as the current stickies, with moderators being the only ones able to start new threads in that forum or move threads there, like they are the only ones able to make threads sticky now. That way the stickies could multiply to the point they fill up a whole screen or more, but board readers wouldn't have to scroll through all of them to read the currently active threads.

I like the "reference/sticky" forum idea. I was about to suggest that as well.

Give us a lil time... we've got some cool stuff in the works :)

  12. I think that many of the stickys should probably be themed boards instead. For example, wouldn't it make sense to have an MBA board and an M.Ed board since questions pop up so often about those? The Military and Financial Aid sticky (which I partially campaigned for its receiving a sticky) seems like it definitely deserves its own board.

Sorry, but I do get rather obsessed with organization of digital material. It drives me crazy to see so many posts in the Distance Learning board rather than the accreditation board or off-topic board. My vision is that having more separate boards will cause people to look more closely at their topic and make sure it fits.

Also, the point of stickys is to make a great/pointed post easily accessible. However if we sticky dozens of threads, covering all major topics and answering all major questions, then there would hardly be a reason to ever post again and this would simply become just a reference site. Ditch the stickymania, and we have brand new discussions starting every day.

    Let the discussions die naturally!

If a subject is interesting or relevant it will stay afloat. Otherwise, it should have its natural lifespan. I think its best when the hotest topic is at the top of the page.
