Technically, that depends not upon when one enrolls, but rather upon when one graduates. Thusly, if you were to enroll in the Jones International University DBA while it is a member of, but not accredited by, the AACSB, then assume that Jones International University does get its AACSB accreditation while you are still in the program, then, when you graduate you would have an AACSB DBA via DL. On the other hand, if Jones International University's AACSB accreditation waits until after your graduation, then your DBA will not be AACSB, but it will still be RA via NCA.

This is an odd rule, AACSB is not that old so what happens with those PhDs that graduated in the 70's? Does this mean that if you have a degree older than AACSB you will be ruled out of any job requiring the accreditation?

? Doesn't a school have to become a member of the AACSB first in order to apply for that accreditation?

Our august former Senior Member Richard C. Douglas PMs me that AACSB does not accredit doctoral programs, though b-schools that are AACSB do offer doctorates; therefore, if Jones International University were to get approved to offer the DBA and did achieve AACSB accreditation, it would technically not be an AACSB DBA but rather a DBA from an AACSB school.

AACSB has been around since 1916. Anyone who has a doctorate in business pre-dating that would likely be about 110 years old by now.

Titanic Rose would probably be the only one unlucky!:)

Jokes apart, there is this Canadian based free university called New-Start university. They have a 4 year unaccredited BCom. I have enrolled for that program recently. In case in the 4 years time, they get accredited, will I be lucky to have a Canadian accredited Bachelor's degree?

Actually, NewStart Institute offers on-line Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) equivalent courses (not yet accredited) rather than a complete degree. I would check with the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training to determine the legitimacy of this institution.

If any program achieves accreditation while you are a student there (and assuming you do graduate), you will be deemed to have an accredited degree.

True, although I do not expect this program will be one of them.

    Not true.

    From the AACSB website:
"Organized in 1916, AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting."
