We are looking for a CC that allows for more credits to transfered in than usual. My son may be able to play college football and is taking courses through straighterline. A CC would be much better than the big three because once you enroll into a 4 year college eligibility gets more complicated. Does anyone know of a CC that allows for more than the usual minimum credits to be tranfered in?
Try new Mexico junior college. I don't know about the strIghterline...but they do take a lot of clep.also most CC in Florida will take about 45 credits from testing . Florida Gateway ic a straighterline partner. Note that nearly all th CC in Florida have become 4 year granting institutions so I don't know how that might affect his elgibility
Thanks, Jennifer. Do you know anything about their trasnscription policies? Will we have to take credits from there or can we get do some good old fashion laundering?
Sure. A few "cons" though. First, they charge $9 per credit for anything you bring in- CLEP, credit, etc. So, bringing in 45 credits will cost you $405. *they don't take EVERY CLEP. Granted, that's cheaper than some schools. Also, out of state is not cheap. I think tuition/fees are sitting just around $180/credit, which brings your 15 residency to around $2700. I don't know what they do with ACE, but it's worth submitting for eval since we use ACE recommendations for AP/CLEP. We have multiple guaranteed transfer agreements (100% or your money back) with Iowa and Illinois Universities, so if your son wanted an AA or AS, he'd have that in his pocket. Maybe he'd like to play football for University of Iowa? Go Hawks! Oh, I forgot to add, our online courses are part of the Iowa Consortium- meaning there is a pool of courses collectively offered from multiple Iowa colleges, but with local registration. Not a bad deal, for sure he'd be able to complete a full degree online.
It really depends in what type of place he goes to. NAIA, D-3, D-2, D-1 and JUCOs all have different rules. He's in 10th grade and has already had some contact with recruiters but it's hard to say right now. He might be looking at lower tier but we don't want to complicate things.
