I "endorse" nationally accredited doctorates. I along with the US DOE "endorse" DETC.

    I approve this message.

I endorse DETC degrees fully up to the Bachelor's level. Graduate level? Right now, not so much.

Personally, I feel like DETC/NA schools offering grad programs shouldn't so much find a way to even with RA schools, but should consider innovative approaches that go after areas and learning experiences that RA schools aren't offering.

The question is, does such a situation even exist? And, if it does exist, how will it be identified, and after it's put in place what corporations/institutions will respect it and find it useful in the real world?

Harrison Middleton does seem like one of the more interesting DETC schools. And their "Great Books by DL" approach may be one that you can't get from RA (and not at their low tuition). So yes, such a situation may exist.

Well, those are still valid questions. Harrison Middleton may exist -- but it's kind of small. Their own statistics suggest that they have only issued around 6 degrees in recent years. It's not clear that HMU degrees have any particular reputation, or that they are widely respected, or that they are especially useful in the real world.

I suspect that the overwhelming response of employers or academics to an HMU degree would be: "Huh ?"

    Yea Dr. Lady

Keep up the innovative thinking. I certainly respect your education philosophy and congratulate you on the Aspen BS and MA in addictions studies. I respect both of you (Dr. John Bear) both of you continue to influence education. I tip my hat to you both... but I also believe you (dLady) did right in responding as you have... reputations in the information age can quickly be damaged.

Really? It's been a while since a random thread has been overtaken with a referendum on DETC. This is one of the last ones I could have expected to fall victim.

:sad2:What to do when two of my heroes, J Bear and D Lady have a conflict? This is like Moses and Paul the Apostle getting in a fist fight. I'm going to go fetal now, curl up in a corner somewhere and whimper for awhile.

No worries, it's a love fest at least compared to being referred to as an axe murderer. :naughty:

I definitely like what HMU is doing. What really caught my eye was seeing a Professor with an HMU degree holding a position at a respected RA school. I can't remember if his only highest degree was from HMU or not, but I seem to recall that being the case.

Yeah, of course most DETC schools hold that distinction. Sometimes it can be a blessing, but also a curse when trying to land higher level positions unless you're already in the organization and doing a good job.

    Hey

I like that set up. You really get around nationwide, as well as oversees. Your innovative thinking is quite impressive. After watching you closely over the years, here is one thing that sticks out in my mind. The fact that you are well versed on a wide range of topics from business, education/distance learning, AI, IT, programming, etc.,etc., etc. You have obviously not only learned business from top to bottom, but you have lived it. On the other hand, your innovations in different theories illustrated in that book of yours about Triz is mind boggling. Here is an excerpt from a recent article:

"David’s dissertation at Northcentral inspired him to write a book entitled “Information Technology System Cookbook.” The book delves into “TrizIT,” or “TRIZ for Information Technology,” which is a system developed in the former Soviet Union linking left-brain and right-brain thinking. It helps to solve contradictions, such as when a car engineer may ponder: “How do I design a car that goes farther and uses less fuel?”

Rather than repeat the obvious, I will post this link to something I found on you:

Man on a Mission | Northcentral University

In short, you are a true Renassaince man in every sense of the word.

I tip my hat to you kind sir!

    your humble servant,

    Abner

lol. Holy account necromancy, Batman! Forum legend Bill Huffman makes his grand return and his first order of business is to make a rib at me?

It can't be long now before Bill Dayson, Dave Wagner, ShotoJuku and raristud jump in to pile on.

I'm a fan of Paul, but we both know that he doesn't stand a chance. Did you see what Moses did to that Egyptian?! Yowza! Paul's pen might be mightier than the sword, but not even he can reason his way past iron fists.

Well, St. Paul killed a few Christians in the days when he was Saul of Tarsus.
