what are some cheap online schools to start my associates degree in psychology? i dont mind starting my associates with a school that is not RA but I would like to know if RA schools would accept it? (When I am ready to finish my bachelors degee) thanks
A few will. Still, you can get a regionally accredited Bachelor's in Psychology from Nebraska's Peru State College, and the tuition rate is just $157 per credit, meaning your whole degree would be just $18,840. You could bring that down even more by starting out taking general education courses from San Juan College, a community college in New Mexico with online courses that are just $40 per credit. Check with Peru first to make sure which ones you can use. Good luck, -=Steve=-
Liberty University offers an Associate of Arts in Psychology degree via distance education (online). Only 15 credit hours (9 credit hours in the major and 6 credit hours from any other area must be completed at Liberty University, the other 45 credit hours can be transferred into the degree). Tuition is USD250.00 per credit hour. Penn Foster offers many courses that are ACE reviewed and very inexpensive. CLEPs can be used to fulfill general education requirements, as well, if you are good at test taking. Also, check previous threads which discuss psychology degrees. I think Peru State allows you to enroll in individual courses and their tuition is very reasonable. Good luck with your studies.
If a distance learning degree is what you are looking for, you may want to consider taking a look at CCU's AAS in psychology as one option. At $110.00 a credit it is still reasonable, however, you may have other coomunity college options within your state as well that may be much less. http://www.calcoast.edu/programs_aspsych.php Good luck.
To fully answer euphoric's question though can you provide a list of RA schools, I know there are at least a few whose names escape me, which will accept an AA from Ashworth University? I know Southwestern College in Kansas accepts NA credit hours, however, that school does not offer any psychology degrees.
Most RA schools will accept credit reviewed by ACE. You should decide on the school where you plan to earn the degree and check with them. If they accept ACE, and they probably do, take your courses at Penn Foster (about 160 ACE reviewed), LSU, and BYU. Those are your cheapest options. Then transfer those credits into the school of your choice. I would not go with Ashworth. They are NA, as is Penn Foster, but you will have much more difficulty transferring those credits later because their courses are not ACE evaluated. Another option for VERY cheap RA credits or an entire associate degree is Clovis (www.clovis.edu). They are RA and cost $110 per 3 hour class. There is nothing cheaper out there than that. The only drawback to Clovis is that they follow a semester schedule so you can't really progress quickly if you are a fast learner. Pug
Here http://forums.degreeboard.com/showthread.php?t=975 is a list showing RA schools that take NA credits.
