In case anyone is planning on going to CCU. I plan on going there (MBA) after I finish my B.A. with COSC, hopefully next year. It looks like tuition will be going up. I don't know if the print feature will work because I cut and pasted this. If it doesn't, just e-mail them.

Thank you for your interest in California Coast University's degree programs.

We are excited to inform you that there is a special tuition savings of $300.00 toward enrollment in any degree program. Print the certificate and send it along with a completed application. If you enroll between June 1, 2005 and June 30, 2005, your tuition account will be credited $300.00 and you'll be on your way to a very successful year.

With tuition rates projected to increase by the end of summer, it is important to lock in the current rate. You can do that by enrolling now to ensure that those tuition increases do not affect you. Act fast and take advantage of this opportunity to enroll in your program at the current low tuition rate and enjoy $300.00 in savings!

In the words of Dylan, these times they are a changin.

I remember when a tuition discount was listed in NIFI as one of the signs of a degree mill. Of course, the TRACS didn't stop short either. On the contrary, the TRACS train continued to chug forward until it pulled right into grand central station at CHEA/DOE.............

During the 7 years I was involved in marketing the Edinburgh Business School MBA, the best incentive for starting was a price increase. Course prices went up every year, on January 1st . . . so a great many people enrolled in December.

In a silly moment, we thought about offering Ginsu knives with each course . . . but we actually did offer airline miles one year. We didn't get more new students, but the average number of courses purchased rose slightly.

I believe everyone with a Hotmail account got the certificate offer. Personally, I have two Hotmail accounts and got one in both and the lady friend received one as well.

Too bad the friggin' state universities here in Ohio can't do that. http://www.bgnews.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/04/15/425fbe0b3540c

Sadly, despite what the article about "state budget cuts" I still wholeheartedly believe that tuition would still go up or more useless "fees" would appear on students' bills.

It would seem distance education students are money makers for universities and colleges. If anything credit hour / semester hour costs at all schools offering distance education should remain stable or be reduced considering the lower demands and infrastructure investment necessary to support ever growing numbers of distance educatiuon students. Oh well, this route allows us to pursue education while still having a life outside school.
