For anyone interested in taking classes from a consortium of leading Canadian universities in distance education. Looks very interesting. http://www.cvu-uvc.ca/english.html They offer a PhD in Cognitive Information(informatique cognitive): http://www.cvu-uvc.ca/cgi-bin/cvu/cvuinfo.cgi?qn=level&lang=en#X17
Are these in fact "leading" universities? There are several Canadian schools which are noticeably absent: McGill, UBC, U Vic, University of Alberta.
Leading Canadian Universities in Distance Education I believe the key phrase here is "leading Canadian universities in distance education" not necessarily "leading Canadian universities". Unfortunately, prestigious Canadian institutions like McGill, Queens, and University of Toronto have not developed many distance education options. However, the CVU site does contain some very good universities. Michael Weedon, CA
Re: Leading Canadian Universities in Distance Education I spent some time reviewing the program offerings. I'm quite impressed that Royal Military College is in the game - their offerings should be of interest to the same folks that are considering AMU. As you may know, a limited number or US military officers are sent there every year - getting a slot is competitive. How well is Royal Roads (in Victoria) regarded relative to UBC and UVic ?
Canadian Military Colleges I would agree that the distance education offerings from Royal Military College (RMC) are a exciting development. RMC has an excellent reputation, notably in science and engineering. I believe that Royal Roads University (RRU) would compare favourably to the other B.C. universities. RRU was the Royal Roads Military College (RRMC) until 1995. The following web page provides a good overview of RRMC history: http://www.hatleypark.ca/about-us/royal-roads-military-college/ Michael Weedon, CA
