I was talking to a co-worker about business slang and how abused some terms are (like "at the end of the day") and they are just stupid. He told me about a website called Bull Shit Bingo. It is just so funny! Here is the info and the link How to play: Before each meeting or conference call, visit Bullshit Bingo and print one copy of this game card for each player, refreshing the page before each print, or have the players print their own bingo cards. These instructions will not be printed. You can also select card only and multiple card versions of this page when playing on line, or with a PDA. Check off each block when you hear these words during the meeting or conference call. When you get five blocks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, stand up and shout "BULLSHIT!!!". Or play as a drinking game and for every block you mark off, take a sip, and finish your drink each time you get five blocks in a row. Bullshit Bingo [Random!]
I haven't played this, exactly, but I have gotten to the end of a hype-laden article and thought, "Wow, bingo." By the way, right as I got tired of the phrase "going forward", I heard someone in an interview say, "on a go forward basis". There have to be bonus points for that sort of recursive bullshit.
My former boss came up with, "this is good but put some chrome on it" to fine tune or polish something...we are not quite sure what he means!
Oh man I can't stand these business BS terms. I talk about it sometimes and people say "well it makes you sound intelligent". So I just give up. Let me list a few I can't stand: - 800lb gorilla (old one) - level set - in terms of - reached out to him - going forward (another old one) - thought leadership I'll post some more tomorrow.
Quite a few BS business lingo phrases here The Ridiculous Business Jargon Dictionary ‘Assmosis’ and ‘PowerPointless’ are good descriptions of some folks!
My all time more hated is "at the end of the day". If I ever say that I would hope someone would wack me in the head with a 2x4!
I doubt I could play something like this at work, but it sounds interesting. I still prefer real bingo, which can be found in online casinos where you can pay by credit card. Although probably playing with real people is more uplifting, especially at work.
