Hello: I am new to this board. I was wondering what if any is the logic behind if a degree is concidered a BS or a BA ( or MS or MA)? Thank You David
I've asked this question several times of various professors and administrators. The most consistent explanation I've heard is that the "Arts" degree has more of a qualitative component, while the "Science" degree has more of a quantitative approach. If that's the case in actual practice, I have no idea. Bruce
I'm just curious, does someone know how many credit hours in liberal arts and in the major component does a B.A. require? I'm presently enrolled in a B.S. program in business, and the minimum liberal arts requirement here is 60 credit hours, the business component is minimum 45 hours and the rest 15 hours can stem either from liberal arts or business. If I recall correctly, my B.A. (Criminal Justice) required either 36 or 39 semester credits in the major area, the rest coming from general education, core requirements, and open electives. From what I've seen, B.S. programs in CJ require more credits in the major area. Bruce
