    About Teaching

    Hello se94583:

I concur with you on the fact that a Distance learning degree(s) will be quite problematic to my journey of being able to teach at the university level. That's why I came to you fine folks to see if this is possible. The positions available seem to be a shortcoming to future archaeologist. Possibly in a decade or so as I have read that DL will be a more acceptable means of higher education to the academic world.
I figure it will take me six-years maximum to gain my bachelor's and master's degree respectively and then three-years to the Ph.D. I have a long way to go but I want to be prepared to the highest degree where I can hold my own with other scholars of academic prestige. I honestly believe that the study will be incredibly great to learn. I like the times of Bible and also I like the alternative of archaeoastronomy. Perhaps, this will give me an advantage over professors who don't have academic training in this discipline. I want to be able to label myself is well-rounded and different. Finally, I thank you for your valuable input and it is very meaningful for me. I will keep in mind everything you have said. But I must continue and see if I can make it. Someone has to be the first to breakthrough and maybe I can be. :)
    Only time shall tell.

    Sincerely,

    CIIS

I am still reviewing the CIIS regarding their fascinating work in the field of archaeoastronomy. This is of great interest to me. I find that the Native Americans, Aztecs, Mayans, Celts, Chinese, Egyptians, Polynesians have significant history with what we are trying to understand. I would also like to research to see if the Aborigines of Australia play a part in this incredibly exigent field. While I love the Biblical part of archaeology; it is important to me to understand the different cultures of the world and see what they have to offer. I want to be able to have an open-mind and take it all in. Our world as a whole is extraordinarily enthralling. I want to know all I can from a worldly view and also an universal prospective. There is so much to learn and I want to get in line to understand. The universe and our world has a meaning behind it and I would like to help others find that key. I fell only the best is to come in the future in the research of archaeoastronomy and ethnoastronomy. I look forward to getting started soon. However, I need a great amount of educational background to support any type of credibility in the academic community.

It's great to hear from someone that shares interest in this . :)

    Cordially,

The University of Leicester offers a PhD by Research by Distance Learning (yes, their website calls it exactly that) in Archaeology and Ancient History. Prof. Clive Ruggles (www.le.ac.uk/archaeology/school/staff/staff_rug.html) is their specialist in Archaeoastronomy.
