    Re: MBAs overseas...

If you want a school ranked that highly then I think your options are probably limited to:

    Indiana- Kelley
    Duke
    Arizona State
    Henley
    Warwick

And I'm not even sure if all of them are quite within your parameters, although they should be close enough.

University of London - Imperial College might fit too (but I'm sure no AACSB on that school). UMass does not meet your ranking requirement but is probably worth considering if you reject the others for one reason or another.

My guess for best fit for you would be Arizona State (5 day residency at the start of the program) Kelley (although not sure about residency but I think none) or Henley. The residency requirements for Duke and Warwick are ongoing so that probably is a deal breaker for you. I have always admired the Warwick program from afar, though, and the school has a great reputation.

I don't know anything about INSEAD or IMD, but they might well be good choices.

    Nothing else comes to mind.

    Best of luck.

Unfortunately, not everybody with the potential of making it into “Keenan-Flagler, Sloan, etc” can actually afford it (financially and/or timewise). That is why alternatives exist. I don’t see the point of making hasty generalizations.

(sorry for clogging your inbox and weaken your ability to get good answers to your very important question)

    Yeah, Atraxler...

I knew that last comment of mine would draw some fire. Took longer than I expected, though. Sorry, didn't mean to rag on your school...I was just annoyed at the moment and UoP just popped into my head. My apologies for hasty words in the heat of the moment.

Thanks for your comment, Scotty... apology accepted.

UoP may not be among the world's best, but as a former student I am encouraged to see they are seeking ACBSP accreditation.

If UK and Spain are not too far from you, Manchester and IE (Spain) can be an option if you can allow short residency.

    They are both ACCSB accredited.

    Kelley has residence requirement....

    Scotty

Have you seen UMassOnline? It is a web site that lists all of the online programs offered by University of Massachusetts, including an MBA program that is completely online.

The UMass MBA was just voted in the top 10 by Princeton Review.

Here is the link which has more info:

    UMass Amherst

    Hey CDaly,

I have been taking a long hard look at that UMass Amherst program. It isn't rated top 50 among brick and mortars, but its online MBA looks quite good compared to all the other online offerings. ASU, Purdue, Indiana and some of the other really high-end B&M schools that offer DL MBAs are really pricey, but the UMass program looks more reasonable. Plus, its AACSB.

My biggest problem is that I am going for my MBA for a career change, not to enhance my existing career. I'm an IT guy and I have developed a loathing for computer monitors and wiring. Thus, my business experience is lacking. Therefore, I might be wasting money going to a top school just to get a foot in an entry-level door, know what I mean, Verne? Maybe it would be more beneficial to save some money and still get a fine school in UMass.

I know this is nitpicky, but I take pride in my school's campus. Frankly, the pictures I've seen make UMass Amherst look like a Detroit parking garage. Has anybody seen the Amherst campus? Is it as dumpy as the pictures show? I'm a southern boy, but I spent plenty of time up north and I think New England is beautiful. Never been to Amherst, but I have heard nice things about the town.

(AND THERE YOU HAVE IT DIS.FUNK.SH.NULL AND BINKWILE...I JUST REDIRECTED MY OWN THREAD! I learned a lesson...apologies all around. )
