  1. Just pulled the trigger and signed up at Northcentral. I like the format that their classes take. I also can't argue with the fact that it will cost almost $10K less than Walden when all is said and done. I hope this PhD will not be considered inferior to Walden, Capella or Nova by employers. I have heard mixed reviews on that subject. Thanks for your input; you helped me make a decision.

Congrats and best of luck. Of Walden, Capella, and Nova, I would say NCU is on par with 2 of them and Nova is at the top (just my opinion).

  3. Yes, Nova looks good. It doesn't offer a program I'm interested in or I would have given it more serious thought. I'm looking forward to NCU.

Were you trying to select the most inexpensive doctorate? I thought you had some other criteria.

Also, you need to realize that you are being told a bunch of stuff to get you to enroll and that your experience in the program with the people who actually run the program may be different.

    Beware of the merchant-scholar!

  5. "Merchant-scholar"...that's a great term! Thanks for the warning. I'll try a class and see what I think. The good thing is that, to borrow a term from economics, the "barriers to entry" are low. So I'm not out that much effort or money if I find it to be disappointing. From the outside, it looks like the perfect learning format for me. If I can find exactly what I need at NCU at a lower price, I'm not going to complain. We'll see.
