In 2003 the government of Kenya reintroduced the right to free basic education for every citizen. That was great news for one 84-year-old man who was finally able to fulfill a lifelong dream: learning to read and write. VOA’s Zulima Palacio shows us how Mr. Kimani went to the head of the class.

Growth is part of the meaning of human life, I think. We never reach an age where it becomes inappropriate.

I've always thought that DL might be a great thing for intellectually alert seniors, particularly those who are frail and have limited mobiity. Even if they are housebound, they can still roam the world of ideas.
