I read this evening that they are air-lifting relief supplies to some places in Vermont. That's pretty bad when food and water must be air-lifted in.

Just don't go surfing in those huge waves. One time me and a couple of dudes deciding to surf in some gigantic storm waves. I caught two or three waves at lightning speed. I then caught another huge wave, but this time, I was moving so fast that my foot slipped, and I got dragged down to the ocean floor (about 50 ft under). The wave pressure was so strong, I could not swim back up to the surface. I was starting to black out, but then suddenly after what seemed like several minutes, the pressure let up and I was able to go back to the surface.

On that day, I was certain I was gonna meet my maker. I guess he decided to send me back!

Yea, food, water and safety are all fairly important...but the most important thing is that we got Kiz back online! Now life can get back to normal! Woo Hoo!

Thanks guys. It's amazing how dependant I"ve become on electronics but then it's fun to see how much you can do without them. Two nights ago we sat around and played a game. Think of this: five people sit on the floor surrounding a coffee table on which is a bunch of candles and two books. The first book is a world atlas. The second book is a "history of the world" textbook. Using the book as a starting point you must tell a story (true or not). "I recently met a guy from work who was from Tunisia and he was talking about this whole Arab Spring thing and what he said was . . ." It was really fun, the night flew by and we learned some things about each other that we probably never would have learned otherwise. I'm happy that my cable is back but losing power was not a totally bad thing.

A video of me attempting to surf would be perfect America's Funniest Home Videos material. In any case, the beach I go to has a VERY gentle slope; I can walk out 200 yards at high tide and not even be up to my chest.

A friend of mine who lives in southern Norfolk County (near Rhode Island) just got his electricity back today.

My wife and I were in Florida the year we were hot with 4 (or something like that) hurricanes. We were without power several times and it is amazing how you can adapt after the second time. You realize how much electronics can "steal" your time. Of course, that does not mean I want to be without it.
